Lansing, MI (June 21, 2011) In the spirit of helping students save money while keeping useful household items from the landfill, Career Quest Learning Centers will hold its first Community Resale on Saturday, July 9 at 10 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in front of the Lansing headquarters building. Refreshments will be sold by the Student Council and proceeds from those sales will support student activities at the Lansing campus. The campus address is 3215 S. Pennsylvania Ave. Lansing, MI 48910.
Students, staff and faculty can reserve a table to sell by calling (517) 318-3330 or by contacting Marcie Brewer at mbrewer@cqlc.edu. The Community Resale participants will get the benefit of cleaning out drawers, closets and garages while earning money from gently used goods. Household clothing, furniture, toys, electronics, books and music media are some of the items that will be available at the sale.
The sale is open to the public but selling is restricted to the Career Quest students, staff and faculty. The deadline for reserving a table is July 1. The event will take place rain or shine.
Marcie Brewer, Career Quest Executive Assistant, said, “Most of our students are working so hard to stretch their budgets and this is another way we can help. The Community Resale is similar to the popular Mom2Mom program that helps parents get discounted items they need while selling their own goods to make room for the new. Our large parking lot is the ideal spot for this sale so we’re looking forward to a good community response.”
